Some bacteria are capable of a process called conjugation. When 2 cells are lying next to each other they exchange genetic materials. This accounts for some changes in bacteria that allows them to become resistant to certain antibiotics.
How sexual reproduction takes place in bacteria?????????
most of the bacteria reproduce asexually. but one form of sexual reproduction prevalent is called as CONJUGATION.
The F+ will come into contact with F- and form a tube then the plasmid (a bit of DNA different from the main chromosomal lot) will copy itself and send a copy to the F- cell. Now both the bacterial cells become F+. this is useful for transferring resistance genes across the population.
[Yes. it is nothing like sexual reproduction of higher living beings]
hope this helps!!
Reply:it takes place in the form of conjugation process
